The University of Texas is a diverse multicultural population and should be committed to encouraging religious understanding, freedom of speech, and open social interaction.
- Intended as a possible extension of SDI, the Multi-Faith Center’s goal is to be a space (similar to the MEC) simply designed as places of prayer, worship, and reflection to be shared by students and staff of all faiths and beliefs. Whether practicing Buddhism to Atheism, the Multi-faith center should be recognized as a spiritual environment free of judgment for people of all religions, traditions, and practices.
- In addition, the Multi-Faith Center is to be an area where civilized conversations and discussions can be held open to any beliefs through forums or programs to help educate those unfamiliar with a certain practice.
- Faith-based organizations can also reserve the space to be used for their meetings/worship time/events/etc. as an alternative to going off campus.
- This center would also publicize resources available to students on different practices and beliefs in the form of pamphlets, brochures, books, magazines, religious texts, and much more!
